Catalina Renjifo’s artistic practice is digestive in method, research based in methodology and pedagogical in outlook. It involves breaking down, dissolving, and congealing materials to absorb and assimilate cultural and bodily knowledge. Learning in the process guides the choices which shape the artworks and the encounter with others.
Each artwork formulates a question and as a final piece, the specific formulation of process and materials embodies the enquiry. Catalina is interested in artistic epistemologies, making which affirms the cognitive nature of aesthetic experience and widens the perception of how we come to know. Current strategies of engagement are deployed as embedded pedagogies.
